Man charged with murder, attempted murder after Eden Inn shooting

EDEN, N.C. — A Virginia man was arrested and charged with murder after a double-shooting in Eden, police report.

At about 8:36 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the Eden Inn motel at 213 S. Van Buren Road.

Officers determined gunshots were fired into a vehicle.

They found 34-year-old Brandon James Rose, of Reidsville, dead of an apparent gunshot wound and 38-year-old Meghann Rose McKinney, of Reidsville, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police report that McKinney's condition is currently unknown.

Officers identified Tim Caesar Blanks, 37, of Bassett, Virginia, as the suspect. He was arrested shortly before midnight.

Blanks was charged with first degree murder in the death of Brandon Rose and attempted murder of Meghann McKinney.

He is being held at the Henry County jail awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.

"The Eden Police Department would like to express appreciation to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the apprehension of Blanks and to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office with security and assisting the department with answering calls during the investigation," EPD said in a statement.
